WhiteRhinoCoffee.com Launched!

Monday, October 15th, 2007

My friend, Ryan, is starting opening his new coffee house, White Rhino Coffee, in Cedar Hill, TX soon. I was able to create a basic website for them using Typo3 with a icon-oriented menu (with text tags for those who need it, of course), a newsfeed, and a newsletter system in just about 10 billable hours. I love Typo3! Anyway, they were able to learn the basics of the backend very quickly and filled it with content. So, I’d like to officially announce the launch of WhiteRhinoCoffee.com as of this past weekend. Go ahead and check out what they were able to do and, if you’re in the Dallas area, join me there for coffee after they open (they have an RSS feed on the “Construction Updates” page to keep you up-to-date).

Merlin at IDEO: “Know How” Talk with Scott Underwood

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Merlin Mann (from 43Folders, MacBreak Weekly, and other things) has a great video from his visit to IDEO where he talked about effenciency, email, and GTD. I especially agree with his idea that GTD is the perfect tool for “clearing the decks” and keeping the menial tasks down, but it’s not always the best tool for actually completing creative tasks. Anyway, you can watch his video here (and he’s posted a downloadable version as well).
